The reality
For most families, the 7+ is the first formal assessment their child will sit, often before they have properly settled into school.
The aim is not to make it feel bigger than it is. It is to prepare in a way that stays calm and steady, so your child walks in familiar with what is in front of them.

School formats
Papers, interviews, and group tasks vary from school to school. Preparation is matched to the schools you are aiming for.
Reasoning
Verbal and non-verbal reasoning rarely appear in Year 2, but carry real weight in the assessment.
Interview
Group activities and short interviews can matter as much as the written papers, so we prepare for both.

The programme
Specialist SEND support
Many of our tutors are experienced with dyslexia, ADHD, autism and other learning differences, without lowering academic expectations.
As first-time parents navigating London's prep school landscape, we felt completely out of our depth. Lionheart didn't just prepare our son for his exams - they guided us through the entire process with such expertise and care.
"By the time he walked out of his 7+ interview, he had a big grin on his face. We were thrilled to receive offers from both schools we applied to.
"Just a quick note to say thank you to the whole team. James has his place at Latymer and we honestly couldn't have done it without Sarah's guidance. She knew exactly when to push and when to ease off - something we never quite mastered as parents! The mock interview session was particularly helpful in building his confidence.

Not at all. Early support helps the process feel calm rather than sudden. Our tutors keep sessions reassuring and pitched to your child's age.
The individual papers, interviews and group assessments that specific prep schools set, matched to the schools on your list.
Both work well for the 7+. We tutor in person across London and online anywhere in the UK, and many families use a mix.
A confidence-first approach. Our tutors are trained to notice signs of stress and adjust, so preparation stays enjoyable and age-appropriate.
